I’ve just replaced my Ninja Air Fryer with a Ninja Foodi – more on that, later. It was a sensible move, in that it combined the functions of at least 3 large counter top devices – Air Fryer, Instant Pot and Slow Cooker – into one. My old Air Fryer and trusty Morphy Richards Sear & Stew slow cooker are going into storage, freeing up much needed space in my kitchen. My Instant Pot has been donated to some very grateful neighbours, who are going to make good use of it.
Gadget Man strikes again!. To be fair to myself, for someone who likes to cook, I’ve managed a long time without a food processor.
I was actually looking at this very bundle a couple of months back, and had mentally bookmarked it as something to consider for the Black Friday deals. But today, Amazon told me it was in their one-day deal – reduced by 25% – and I had 4.5 hours to decide. Didn’t take me nearly that long.
When you order something and it doesn’t fit, it is disappointing. When you order something having measured carefully and compared to the item description it is infuriating.
I have been looking at plumbed in water systems for a while. After deliberation, I decided the Virgin Pure Water Bar is a neat solution and while it is bigger than the Brita it replaces, it is almost the same size as my coffee machine, so doesn’t look out of place next to it.
It seems that, during the day, I am only in danger of bingeing in the hour or so after I eat my first biscuit(s). After that, I seem as likely to take another biscuit as anybody else. So setting the Kitchen Safe to 2 hours takes the biscuits out of reach for that danger period of time, but leaves my options open for something later in the day.
I have a proper machine – from Andrew James, who seem to do a good line of cheap domestic versions of professional gear. It cost me £140, and when it arrived it was about twice as big as I was expecting, which means I have had to rearrange my kitchen tops again.
I’m about to lunch on the leftovers of the soup I made for my friend Annie on Saturday. It is my own invention – a broccoli and Camembert soup – which I cannot get enough of. It is utterly delicious and incredibly easy to make.
My Codlo device arrived on Wednesday. This is a gadget that turns a rice cooker or slow cooker into a Sous Vide bath. The Codlo plugs into the wall, and the cooker is plugged into the Codlo. Setting the cooker to its “High” setting means that it is always on, and so the cooking is controlled by the Codlo turning the power on and off.
