Instant Pot Adventure #2 – Pressure Cooked Chicken

My first use of the Instant Pot as a pressure cooker would be to cook a whole chicken.

Nothing much to say about it – I put the chicken on the Instant Pot’s trivit, and poured in a cup of water, as instructed. Then I selected pressure cooker and poultry. It said 30 mins, so I let it go at that.

But first it must come up to steam, and I went away to play on my computer. I must admit I quite forgot I was cooking a chicken.

When I came back, it had cooked, and was 30 minutes into the “keep warm” feature. I lifted the chicken out and it looked great.

But, of course, being pressure cooked, the skin was not crisp (the brown is from the paprika in my seasoning).

This does not bother me in the least, as I don’t eat chicken skin. But on a whim I decided to put the bird in my air-fryer to crisp up.

After 7 minutes in the air-fryer, it looked pretty good.

Here is a chunk of breast meat. It was moist and full of flavour.

And here is tonight’s tea. I know it is a bit rustic in presentation, but that’s me being hungry!

Finally, as a bonus, this will be going in a soup sometime this week.
