Barbecue Sauce, Carolina-Style
The combination of sweet and tangy flavors in this Carolina Barbecue Sauce brings out the absolute best in grilled or smoked pork or chicken.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup prepared yellow mustard
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup white granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
  1. Combine all ingredients, except soy sauce, and butter, in a medium saucepan.
  2. Simmer on low for 20 minutes, making sure to stir occasionally.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 more minutes.
  4. Allow sauce to cool slightly before using. If making ahead of time, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days after preparation.
